The ongoing redevelopment of the St James-based Cornwall Regional Hospital (CRH) has been allocated more than $5billion in the 2025/2026 financial year.
Over the next 12 months, the money will be spent to continue civil works associated with Phase one to three of the redevelopment of the institution, taking it to 90 per cent completion.
Details of the project are outlined in the 2025/2026 Estimates of Expenditure, which will go before the Standing Finance Committee of the House of Representatives shortly.
The objectives of the project are geared at improving service delivery in the public health system by rehabilitating the CRH to include ventilation and air-conditioning systems; mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems, information and communications technology (ICT) and equipping the institution.
Achievements under the project up to the end of December 2024 were demolition and completion of repairs to floors seven to nine; practical completion, and defects remedy for the demolition and structural repairs to the basement and floors one to six; rehabilitation of water tanks, and construction of roof.
Phase two of the redevelopment project has been completed, and designs for phase three are also completed.
Renovation of the administration department is at 100 per cent completion; the medical records department, 80 per cent completion; server room, 70 per cent completion; and general stores, 60 per cent completion. Work is ongoing for the dietary department.
