Prime Minister of Barbados, Mia Mottley, has called on Caribbean artistes to follow the example of Robert “Bob” Marley, by using their voices to influence change in the society.
She noted that the reggae icon is revered around the world not only because he made good music but because of the message in his songs.
“So, I ask what you want your legacy to be. Will you be an artiste for today or a voice for eternity?” she asked.
Prime Minister Mottley made the remarks during her recent video presentation on the music and legacy of Bob Marley as part of the Jamaica Music Museum (JaMM)’s Grounation heritage series.

The event, which is part of this year’s Reggae Month activities, was held under the theme ‘Bob Marley at Eighty: His Music, Legend and Legacy’.Prime Minister Mottley urged citizens to honour Bob Marley by embracing his ideals.
