Load management keeps Khadija Shaw on sidelines for Peru friendlies

bess100fm

Manchester City striker Khadija Shaw has been left out of Jamaica's 24-member squad for two friendly matches against Peru later this month, head coach Hubert Busby announced on Monday.

The Reggae Girlz will face Peru on February 23 and 26 at the Estadio Miguel Grau in Lima.

Shaw, who scored twice in Manchester City’s 4-0 win over Liverpool in the Women's Super League on Sunday, has recently returned from a leg injury and a period of racist abuse.

Busby said Shaw’s exclusion was due to load management in coordination with Manchester City.

"Yesterday was her first start in 2025. She's been out for a while and she's had limited minutes. Manchester City is monitoring her progress in terms of her coming back in and obviously, we respect that as well,” Busby said.
